"I'm sorry. I'm really busy."

I heard that lots on my mission.
It was a busy week for me.

View from Ramberget
Mowed a neighbors lawn, cut the grass in the neighborhood entrance, painting, been to a "goodbye party", church, delivered newspapers two nights in a row and running up for a hill, see picture.

I will start writing about the unofficial club championship in hill running.
2,1 km up to the top of Ramberget. The athletics at Fest i nord were the last thing I did before this race, so I wasn't as prepared as I am for Göteborgsvarvet.
I held my normal tempo. Slightly over 4:30 min/km. I came on 19th place of 24 male runners.
9:38. I have a time to beat next year. All the results this year will be beaten next year. This year will be a start up for the coming years.
Here is a video from the race.
I think I am the second behind the one in yellow. You can see my finish from 9:10.

I delivered newspapers the night to Friday and Saturday. I find it hard to sleep before. Maybe I worry about bad weather, sleeping in or other problems that can occur. I felt like a zombie this Friday. The rain that fell mostly the whole day didn't make the day better.
Now these days are over and the delivery job as well. No more night jobs for a long time.
I drove the company car. The steering wheel is on the right side, so you don't have to drive on the wrong side of the road to drop off newspapers. First time I have driven a right hand drive in Sweden.

The week ended with church. The day to charge the spiritual batteries.
I was asked to say the closing prayer in all the three blocks. Elders quorum, Sunday school and the sacrament meeting. Just see it as extra blessings.  :p

My England trip is closing in. Two weeks from yesterday.

Take care my friends!

Week rewind

Sunday is the best day to write. It is also good to have a day to relax.

I have started the training again after Göteborgsvarvet. Went twice this week to Skatås.
Monday and Thursday. I was actually late both time. I came 15 minutes late on Monday and just some minutes before the groups ran off on Thursday. The first time I blamed on the traffic.
Drove 30 km/h for almost 5 km.
The second time I just left home late.
So I missed the training on Monday. There are no one left in the club house when they run away      (at least on Mondays). So I hid my bag and ran a 5 km round on my own. I didn't get a super time, 21 min, 36 s. 4:19 min/km.

I ran with other Sunvikings on the Thursday training. We ran 11 km cross country.
I forgot to reset my stopwatch, so I didn't get an exact time. I calculated out with the time, distances and average speed I had and got 1 h, 6 min, 22 s. The average speed was 6:02 min/km.
The reason to the slow speed was that I missed what pace the different groups had and just joined the first best.

It feels good to be back on track with running.

The week has been good. Have had visit from my nephew and brother.
Kids have loads of energy. Would also like to have it, especially when I run. :)

I will train twice next week at Skatås. Tuesday and Thursday.
My next race will be the club championship in the beginning of August. 2,1 km uphill.

Run along!

My first race

I have at least settled down from the Stockholm trip, it hasn't been much running since Göteborgsvarvet.
Just one actually. I ran, what I call, Gräppås rundan. It is 3,2 km long and only on asphalt.
I got the time 13 min and 32 s.

Thursday 9th was the day I ran my first club championship. The distance was 1000 m. I haven't run that distance since my eighth year in school. 2002. It was raining a lot in the morning. I hoped it would stop before the evening. It did, but the track was still wet. There were some small puddles on in.
18:20 was the start for  my heat. We were 6 in my class. Two ran off immediately. It was slippery and I couldn't get good grip at all. I felt I ran slow. It didn't feel fast at all and I didn't have any strength to run faster. I finished second last with the time 3 min and 18 s. The winner had the time 2 min and 50 minutes. You run fast as an African if you can keep the time I got per kilometer for a half marathon. You would get 1 h and 9 min. But now it was only one kilometer we ran and you should get faster min/km time than you have when you run longer distances.
I run in average 4 min, 52 s /km in Göteborgsvarvet.
I can only state that I'm not trained for short distances. More interval and sprint training are needed for me. Intervals are also needed so I can have a faster pace when I run longer distances as well.
Some of the runners made an unofficial 100 m race. 12.83 s was the best time. Two stretched their thighs. So the running track got its preys. :)

Here is another picture and a video clip. The pictures and video are taken with my phone. The quality of the video is crappy.

Run safely!!

Sun viking!

Weekend and soon another week gone.
It started with a lecture on Monday and with running in the evening.
It was long intervals this time. The intervals went well. We run 3x1 km and 3 smaller rounds. Felt good.
An old man, at the club house, said to me: "You are Kim?". "We viewed your membership application yesterday and it got accepted.".
I got the payment information on Wednesday and is now, since Thursday, officially a Sun viking!

I had lectures Monday to Wednesday. The last two started 8 am. Had to go up earlier than I usually go up.
More book keeping and T-accounts drawing. I have to start no later than next week. Two whole weeks with practicing would be enough.

It has been a pretty chill week.
Watched Eurovision Song Contest semifinals. All the Nordic countries, except for Norway, went to the final now on Saturday. I like Finlands Paradise Oskar. It's a good song. I also hope it goes well for Eric Saade and Sweden.
I began my lawn mowing season yesterday, Thursday. Will cut grass for a neighbor for some months and in the entrance (approach) to our neighborhood.

Tomorrow is exactly a week to Göteborgsvarvet. Will run for the last time 10 km. Monday at Skatås and short intervals on Wednesday and rest to Saturday.

So long!

BTW. It's Friday 13. Someone who has had bad luck?

Week summary

My fourth time at Skatås and I have decided to post the member application sheet next time.
Sävedalens AIK was another club that I was little curious about, but they focus most on younger ones.

We were about 40 runners yesterday. When I started go there on Mondays they had only one group, but now they have two. One for beginners and one for the little more experienced runners. I was in the later group. Long intervals was on the schedule today.
We started with easy jogging with high knees, "butt kick" and the jumping Indian. We got to a T-junction where we did long intervals. 800 to 900 meters long track times 4. My average speed was 5min/Km, so I didn't give everything.

The results from the test I did 3 weeks ago was published at Ladok. An internet service for University of Gothenburg where you can registry and see the results for tests and exams. It said I didn't pass.
I went the next day to the university for two lectures. I grabbed my test during a break and saw I actually passed. I talked about the different results and the lady in the office took a copy of my test and said it will be fixed.
I'm at least happy that I passed and can focus on the second half of the course.
The first half was about public policy and the other will be about public management. The first four lectures was about economics and the next six about organization and management. Interesting.

I wrote at the beginning that I was going to post the member application to Solvikingarna. I went to Skatås after the lectures on Thursday and gave it to them.

The whole Friday was spent in Göteborg. Lecture, group work, walking and Chill night at the Outreach centre. We played a music game which one of the young adults had prepared. I was from music questions to humming a song. It was fun.
Today I am home alone. Days goes fast when you go up around noon. Watched Russian ice hockey and Swedish floorball finals and Harry Potter.

Church tomorrow. Nice to finish of a week with that and also start a new.

The church is true, the Book is blue, Jesus loves you!

Cheerio!

A very good weekend

After a lecture on Thursday and lots of reading on Friday I headed to Tingsbergshallen and played Floorball (Innebandy in Swedish) in the evening. We were nine who came, so two teams with five and four players. I played well and scored at least 3 times the first 30 minutes, but I am more a long distance runner and don't have much explosive energy, so my energy supply was pretty empty the last half and I did less rushes, but it was nice to move the body.

I got more on Saturday morning when I drove to Skatås, east of Göteborg. The plan was to run with Solvikingarna (The Sunvikings) a "long slow distance" pass (I don't know if you can say pass. Beat is another word the dictionary suggested.) It happened to be a Göteborgsvarslångpass that Solvikingarna held together with Göteborgsvarvet (the 21 km race I will run in May).
We were 60-70 people there. You chose a group that fitted your tempo. They had three groups. One that held a 5 min/km tempo, the other 5,5 min/km and 6 min/km the last group. I chose 5,5 min/km group. After we had chosen a group we ran for about an hour. We ran 13 km and I stopped my stopwatch at 1hr, 11min and 21sek. I didn't have much strength left in my legs and had hard to even do a short rush.
The ground was icy and wet. It got better when we got asphalt under our feet.
They served energy drink, banana and Kexchocklad (chocolate wafer) when we came back to the centre.

I did a stop at McDonald's on my way home. Frölundamålet for lunch. One BigMac and Cheeseburger and a middle drink and fries. It tasted well. :P

The day finished with Melodifestivalen (the music competition who decide who will represent Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest in Germany) with some friends.
It will be interesting to see how Erik Saade will do in Düsseldorf.
